Course Objectives
By the end of the Dual Nursing Assistant & Home Health Aide Program, students will be able to:
- Deliver safe, person-centered basic care across long-term care, home health, hospital, and hospice settings.
- Apply core knowledge from classroom learning, demonstrate psychomotor skills in the skills lab, and perform these skills appropriately during supervised clinical experience.
- Practice according to ethical, safety, and regulatory expectations aligned with state and federal standards.
- Competently perform foundational tasks (e.g., infection control, personal care, mobility/transfer, communication and documentation) to workplace standards during clinical rotation.
Learning Outcomes
Graduates of the Nursing Assistant Training Program (NATP) at Tri-Hearts Skill Center will be able to:
- Demonstrate competence in performing all required nursing assistant skills safely and effectively according to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) Nurse Aide Competency Standards.
- Provide quality, compassionate, and person-centered care that supports the dignity, privacy, and rights of residents and patients.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with residents, families, and members of the healthcare team.
- Apply infection control and safety practices to maintain a clean and secure care environment.
- Recognize and report changes in residents’ physical or emotional conditions promptly and accurately to nursing staff.
- Exhibit professional behavior, ethical standards, and accountability in all classroom, lab, and clinical activities.
- Successfully complete the Massachusetts Nurse Aide Competency Evaluation and qualify for placement on the Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry.
- Demonstrate readiness for employment as an entry-level Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in a variety of healthcare settings
